Apgujeong, Seoul

A must visit place in South Korea

If you want to meet some Korean celebrities, this is the place to visit, Apgujeong!

Apgujeong is a residential, fashion and shopping district in the Gangnam district of Seoul. The dong originates from a pavilion with the same name founded by Han Myeong-hoe (Hangul:한명회 Hanja: 1415 - 1487), a high-ranking government officer during the Joseon dynasty. It currently contains many upscale department stores, shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

Celebrate New Year's Eve in Copacabana @ SOULed OUT, Sri Hartamas

What is your plan for New Year's Eve this year?

Aren't you tired with all those crowd, jam, sweaty pack places during New Year's Eve? People get together in a super duper crowded place, then get stuck in a massive-long-hours-jam after the countdown?

If you're tired with all of these...why not go for something different this time around?!

SOULed OUT, Sri Hartamas and party in Copacabana style this time!

So what and how is the party going to be like?
With RM150 nett, you are entitled to;
- Complimentary first drink of Tiger or Wine or House Pour
- Brazilian beach bites at its best
- Vivacious beach dancers & drummers
- DJ Augie to heat up the night!
Time: 7.00 pm onwards, 31 December 2011

You can just dress in whatever form you want! If you wanna blend in, beach wear would be just nice for the theme!

The ambience in SOULed OUT, Sri Hartamas could not be even better

You must be wondering what kinda Brazilian beach bites they would be serving right?
Check out those below, some of the awesomely nice beach bites that you would be expecting

Moqueca (Brazilian seafood stew)
Looking at it, you must be thinking this must be some wanna-be tomyam-curry lookalike soup right?
But the moment you put it into your mouth, the creamy-ness of the soup is just a the correct level, it's a bit spicy yet sour (reminds me a bit of tom-yam). Somehow in someway, it's just so unique. To top it off, the clamps, shrimps and slices of fillet was really fresh and not overcook. Perfectly nice to start of a meal.

Five spice meat kabobs
I've tried Kebab quite a bit when I was traveling, especially in Eastern Europe since they are famous for Kebab. Expectation without a doubt, when I see this dish drop drastically. Haha, why? simple because after I went to Italy and tried their Pasta, all the pasta I have now and then just could not be compared anymore.
Hence, I didn't want to disappoint myself, therefore expectation - low.
BUT, this dish amazed me. The meat was nicely done, it tender enough and the colour was there as well (just look at the picture). Kebab's meat is quite hard to get it done as I know. Lots of Kebab that I tried, the meat is either too dry or too hard. But this, it's tender enough yet juicy.

Tangy Salsa Stripes Chicken
What I like about this dish is the topping on top of it, and the gravy that was used. The chicken was nicely flavoured of course, the thing that stand out from this dish is the topping(orange colour-greenish colour-thing on top).
They uses slices of tomato with slices of green pepper, and with some mixture of their spices or gravy. It's something that actually trigger your tastebuds, as if it's calling you, "come, eat me, come!" XD

Brigadeiro (Chocolate bonbon)

Looking at it, I thought it was some biscuit chocolate or so.
The moment I put it into my mouth, and chew it. *btw, I stuff the whole thing into my mouth without hesitation, cause I'm a chocolate lover XP * It was so chewy and sticky, imagine eating Mars Bars, but 10 times more chewy and sticky. It's that good! The chocolate is not too sweet as well. by the way, it's addictive!

Partying Copacabana, beach style, you might just wanna order some of this below just to refreshen yourself!

 you can try;
Classic Mojito

or if you wanna be more fruity with flavours, you can try;
Apple Mojito (Left), Peach Mojito (Right)

or even this below;
Red Dragon Mojito (Left), Malibu Sunshine (Right)
I like Malibu Sunshine personally, why? because it is so fruity, you can't even taste the alcohol!

Since you're in SOULed OUT, Sri Hartamas, you might just wanna try out some of this dishes too.

Fried Beef Noodles
I am never a noodle person, so I sort of purposely left this the last to eat. haha =D
Suprisingly when I ate (was already superbly stuffed), this dish was not too bad for me. Mind you, when I tried, the dish was quite cold already. It still taste pretty decent to me.
It was done with some eggy over the gravy with onions and slices of beef.
Especially the beef. It wasn't overcook as well. Usually, the chef would overcook the beef just to get the colours out right for the noodles itself, but SOULed OUT did it perfectly nice.

Lamb Shank
The lamb shank was pretty decent together with carrots, tomatoes, onions, green pepper and mash potato on the side.
The tenderness of a lamb shank usually should be a problem. What stand out for this compared to the rest is the sauce and the juiciness. What I faced usually having a lamb shank is, I would usually ask for extra gravy, because the meat is too dry.
First of all, the gravy is slightly different compared to others. You can taste the herbs strongly, and the gravy was made with some garlic as well. Different I would say.
The juiciness of the meat was alright. It wasn't too dry that's the important part.

Sizzling Lamb Cutlet
Marinated lamb cutlet with herbs, and was served in a sizzling hot plate.
The lamb was just nice...It wasn't hard at all the meat. I was worried that the meat would be pretty hard because they served in a sizzling hot plate, because it might overcooked the lamb.
However, SOULed OUT put a piece of banana leaves together with chilis and some herbs to slow down the sizzling hot plate to from overcooking the lamb. Hence the lamb was perfectly nice.

The lamb was served together with Naan bread and a bowl of Indian crackers

 Sake San
It's simply a dish of thin-crust pizza with some lettuce, salmon top, some wasabe, mayonaise, roe all over and some cherry tomatoes.
It seems like a really heavy dish right? If you think so, then you're wrong. This dish is suprisingly light, it is a perfect dish when you do not feel like eating something heavy for a meal. Or maybe if you're on a diet, this would be perfect!
The taste, somehow it seems weird to put salmon with lettuce together with roe and mayo. AND with wasabe. It seems like a really WRONG combination isn't it? but somehow someway, it tasted nice, I mean really nice. The level of nice is to the extend that I would order it again when I head back to SOULed OUT  for a meal.

Lava Cake
Chocolate cake(warm) with praline sauce and cashew nuts, topped with Häagen-Dazs Vanilla ice cream and cream.
I just like the chocolate is warm and the cold ice cream compliment each other. It's like having a warm and cold dessert together. 2 in 1!
